Obituary

Shelley D. Valentine, 58, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at home. Born in Buffalo, NY as a child in an Air Force family she lived in numerous states, went to 16 different schools and graduated high school in Europe. As an adult, she lived in Utah and Colorado, moving to South Hadley in 1988 and to Chicopee in 1999. Shelley was a former Western Regional Olympic Ski Association Director and a copy editor for the Wall Street Journal. Most recently, Shelley had been a clerical assistant for The Republican newspaper. Throughout her life she enjoyed skiing, gardening, was an avid reader and a loving daughter and mother. She always bragged that her two children were her greatest accomplishment. She was a supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and most enjoyed the time she was a member of the United States Ski Association. She will be missed by her son, Joshua E. Fish of Chicopee and her daughter, Jessica M. Valentine of South Hadley. She also leaves her mother, Janet Dermy of California, a sister, Lori Delagrammatikas of California, her father, Paul Valentine of Florida, many cousins, extended family and friends spread across the country, and her niece and nephew, Kelsey Williams and Marc Delagrammatikas of California.
