Shirley M. (Hersey) Carson, 73, died Tuesday in Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Springfield. She leaves a daughter Tammy Regnier of San Diego, a son John Paul Layman of Chicopee, two brothers Robert Hersey of Feeding Hills and Ronald Hersey of Southwick, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 step-children Steven Carson, Deanne Pantos and Cathy Kennedy. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Carson and sons James and Sean Bardsley. The committal service will be Monday at 10 am at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
