Obituary

Shirley E. (Manville) Letellier, 96, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday May 3 rd . Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Manville. Shirley was a long time resident of West Springfield where she shared her life with her "beloved" husband Elmer for 69 years. He predeceased her in 2014. Shirley was a graduate of West Springfield High School in the 1930's and was employed for many years at Strathmore Paper Co. and then later at Sears & Roebuck. Shirley also served in the Army as a Corporal during WWII. Shirley loved planning and hosting parties, and celebrating special occasions. She loved to travel and enjoyed sending celebration cards in the mail with special little notes on them in fabulous penmanship. She enjoyed playing her records, shopping and having visits with family and friends. Shirley especially loved feeding her birds and animals. She and "her love" Elmer had a passion for birds and animals and fed them every day. She called them "her babies" and they loved her so.  She leaves many nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and how she loved to laugh and play tricks. All who had known Shirley knows she was a woman with a big heart and soul and she will be greatly missed by many. The funeral home service will be Monday at 1:00 pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service on Monday from 12 noon to 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MA Vest-a-dog, inc., P.O.
