Shirley R. (McGorty) Lucia, 98,went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.  Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Rollin and Effie (Shepard) McGorty, she lived most of her adult life in Agawam and a few years in Southwick.  Shirley was a registered nurse and a graduate of the Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing.  She was a painter of beautiful landscapes and florals, an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles and games.  Shirley was dedicated to her faith  and will be remembered for her cheerfulness and gratitude.  She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Lucia in 2003 and a son, James D. Lucia in 1996.  She leaves  a daughter and her husband, Janice L. and Daniel Sullivan of Rutland, MA  a son and his wife, Thomas P. and Corry Lucia of Feeding Hills,  a daughter-in-law, Jean Foster of Kent, WA, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday from 11am-12noon at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street with a Funeral Home Service at 12noon.  The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
