Stella M. (Siok) Carignan, 103, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at home under hospice care.  Born in North Wilbraham, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Niecewice) Siok, she grew up in Ludlow and was a graduate of Ludlow High School.  She then graduated from Westfield State College Cum Laude, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education.  Stella was an elementary school teacher, where she taught in Agawam at Phelps School and Springfield and retired from the Indian Orchard Elementary School.  She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and a communicant of St. Thomas Church, living in West Springfield for the last twenty-five years. She was the widow of Richard Carignan who died in 1952.  After his death, she raised their three children, all being under the age of two. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Donald Carignan in 2006.  Stella leaves behind her twins, a son, Charles and his wife Heidi Carignan of Georgia, a daughter, Shirley and her husband Robert Sterling with whom she lived, her eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Shantih, Ben, Jack, Allison, Neal, Becky and Jaime, twelve great-grandchildren, her beloved sister, Helen Katsanos of Wilbraham, and several nieces and nephews.  Stella was also nana to Bob's daughters, Katie and Julie and their families.  The funeral will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 9am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield with a Mass in St. Thomas Church at 10.  The burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield.
