Susan E. (Eddy) Letendre, 78, wife of Richard A. Letendre of Feeding Hills, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home after a multi-year struggle with Parkinson's disease. Born March 10, 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Augustine and Helena (Heinsohn) Eddy.  Susan attended Elmhurst High School in Providence, RI and went on to graduate in 1963 from the former Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont with a Bachelor's degree in English. She moved to Feeding Hills after marrying Rick in 1964, and taught for a year before starting and staying home with their family. When her daughters were in elementary school Susan started part-time work as a substitute teacher in the Agawam school system. After several years as a substitute, Sue then went back to work full time as a teacher at St. George School in Chicopee, MA, where she taught fifth grade science and social studies for many years. St. George School closed and merged into St. Joan of Arc/St. George School in 1995, from which Susan retired in 1997 to spend time with her grandchildren. She adored her two grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible, helping out with child care when they were young and being an all-around terrific Grammy. Sue also loved spending time at their seasonal home in Narragansett, RI, where she could enjoy the sights and sounds of the shore and be closer to her siblings and their families. She even talked Rick into spending a month in Venice, FL, each March to escape the New England winters. Sue enjoyed crafting, craft fairs, and eating breakfasts out, valued her close friendships, and joined Rick in attending local seasonal theatre productions.  Susan is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Kristin Letendre and fiancé John Reek of Bristol, CT, daughter Lisa Kempter and husband Karl of Tolland, CT, grandson Colin McManus of Gunnison, CO, and granddaughter Kelly McManus of Granby, CT. She also is survived by her sister (Ann) Nancy Samek and husband Joe of Cumberland, RI, brothers-in-law (John) Ronald Bibeault of Woonsocket, RI and Timothy Letendre of Wellfleet, MA, and by 18 nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by sisters Ellen (Eddy) Bibeault, and Carol (Eddy) Shunney, brothers Augustine (Gus) Eddy II and Robert Eddy, brother-in law Edward Letendre, sisters-in-law Ellen (Letendre) Plageman, Kathleen Letendre, and Theresa (Casanova) Letendre, and nephew John Bibeault. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 745 Cooper Street' Wednesday at noon followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral  home service Wednesday from 10:30am – Noon. In lieu of flowers consider donations in Susan's memory to a Parkinson's charity, the American Diabetes Association, or another charity of choice.
