Susan M.
Neely
May 5, 1962 – June 8, 2026
Curran-Jones Funeral Home - WEST SPRINGFIELD
4:00 - 6:00 pm (Eastern time)
It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Susan (Sue) M. Neely, who left us peacefully on Monday afternoon, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Susan spent her formative years in the close-knit community of Penn Hills. She was an outstanding athlete even at an early age. She won the Pepsi Hot Shot basketball competition for the entire county. Her passion for sports and education led her to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a degree in Physical Education. Susan’s dedication to teaching blossomed when she relocated to Massachusetts to join the Springfield School System, soon after earning her Master's Degree at UMass. It was in Massachusetts that she met her beloved spouse, Judy, with whom she shared a life enriched by friendship, laughter, and a mutual love for golf. Throughout her journey, Susan was cherished not only by Judy but also by her siblings: Kitty Remlinger and her husband Ted of Hilton Head Island; Tracy Kalberer and her husband Tim of Berlin, New Jersey; Karen Neely of Palm Bay, Florida; and Ed Neely and his wife Therese of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She was also embraced warmly by her in-laws—Nancy Flynn and her husband Tom of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Dave McGeary and his wife Mia of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Pam Perez of Roanoke, Virginia. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father F. William Neely, her mother Mary Jane Neely (Wilwohl), and her sister Laura Holmes. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 16th from 4-6PM allowing all who knew and loved her to gather and honor her enduring spirit. Arrangements are being graciously managed by the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. Those wishing to share condolences or memories are invited to visit curranjones.com. Memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made as a tribute to her legacy. In commemorating Susan M. Neely, we remember a devoted educator, a loving partner, and a cherished family member whose presence brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her memory shall remain forever in our hearts.
