Suzanne S.
Warner
July 3, 1926 – October 11, 2023
Suzanne (Sue) Shepard Warner, 97, of Longmeadow, MA, died Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center. Sue was born July 3, 1926, in Worcester, MA. She was the daughter of Warren Stanley and Bernice (Blackmer) Shepard.
Sue Graduated from The Penn Hall School in Chambersburg, PA in 1944 and attended the University of Vermont, class of 1948. While at UVM, she joined Kappa Alpha Theta and met the love of her life and future husband Charles (Chuck) D. Warner, Jr. They married on June 14, 1947. They had 63 wonderful years together until Chuck's passing in 2010.
Sue and Chuck moved to the Pioneer Valley in 1950, settling first in West Springfield and then to Longmeadow in 1958. She was very active in The Junior League, The Century Club, and was a past president of Springfield Hospital Auxiliary. However, it was her role as a co-founder of The Field Club of Longmeadow in 1964 which gave her the most pride and joy. She was a member of The Field Club, Longmeadow Country Club, The Century Club and St Andrews Church of Longmeadow.
At age 50 Sue began a career in the Credit Department of Westbank (now KeyBank). Sue retired from the bank on her 80th birthday after 30 years, which allowed her to rekindle some old interests and develop some new ones including: swimming, tennis, symphony, theater, dominos, and especially bridge which she played until three weeks before her passing.
She is survived by her two children, Charles D. Warner III (Jaime) of Stamford, CT, and Anne W. Hall (Michael) of Palm Beach, FL, four grandchildren Cooper B. Warner (Alexandria), Charles M. Warner, Christopher W. Hall, and Whitney O. Hall, her great-grandson George Doe Warner as well as many close nieces and nephews
Sue's greatest passion was the love and devotion of her family and friends. She was a master at bringing people together and making connections. So, in lieu of flowers or a donation, please reach out to an old friend and reconnect. Sue would love that! Services will be private.
