Thelma "Toni" (Shinaberry) Demasi, 84, of 53 Brien Street died Tuesday peacefully at home. Toni was born in Maidsville, WV, the daughter of Leo and Jesse (Carpenter) Shinaberry. She moved to Springfield in 1952 and has lived in Agawam for 22 years. She worked as a custodian for the City of Springfield before retiring in 1996. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Feeding Hills, taking on various roles including that of Eucharistic Minister. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, James Demasi, Sr. She leaves a son, James Demasi, Jr of FL; five daughters Ann Kudlic of Feeding Hills, Deborah March of Chicago, Ellen Zordani of Agawam, Carol Alaimo of Feeding Hills, and Linda Elliot of MO; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister to Audrey Ryan of Morgantown, WV and the late Charles Shinaberry and Mattie Griffin also of Morgantown. Her funeral will be held at Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 9 a.m. with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 4 – 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church. For more information please go to curranjones.com.
