Theodore Robert
Schwamb
June 1, 1953 – March 28, 2024
Theodore Robert Schwamb, 70, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Ted was born in Greenwich, CT and was a 1971 graduate of Greenwich High School. Greenwich always held a special place in his heart, where he loved growing up on the water. He later moved to West Springfield, MA, where he called home for the past thirty-five plus years. Ted received his Masters Degree in Business and Engineering from Western New England College, where he also started the wrestling team. He spent the majority of his career in packaging engineering for Torrington Ingersoll Rand Company: which brought his family on many crazy European vacations. Family, work and religion were three cornerstones of his life. Ted loved to travel, camp, ski, play hockey, go to sporting events and spend time at his home at Cape Cod. He also enjoyed hunting, belonging to the Fins, Furs & Feathers Hunting, being an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and his Tuesday/Thursday night hockey leagues, which he rarely missed. He was a loyal supporter of his friends and family, and had a huge love for his grandchildren, who always brought cheer to his heart and a smile on his face. He was a boy scout and packaging engineer by nature: always crafting up a solution to fix anything. Only some rules applied to Ted, while most were meant to be bent. He was the son of the late George T. and Jean (Johnson) Schwamb. He will be deeply missed by his wife of thirty-nine years, Gretchen (Wilke) Schwamb, son, Travis G. Schwamb of East Longmeadow, daughter, Gretta A. Mierley of North Andover, brother, Richard Schwamb of Millsboro, DE, sister, Susan Henderson of Beaver Falls, PA and three grandchildren, Ellianna Schwamb, Theo Schwamb and Owen Mierley. He was predeceased by his brother, George Schwamb. The funeral will be Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 10:30am at Grace Lutheran Church, 1552 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The burial will be private in Maple Grove Cemetery, Queens, NY. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 4-7 at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield.
