Theresa R. Gunger
1924 – 2011

Huntington, CT – Theresa R. (DeLowery) Gunger, 86, of Mohegan Road died Wednesday at the home of her daughter in West Springfield surrounded by her family. She was born in Black Rock, AZ the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Vinson) DeLowery. She lived in Colorado before moving to Huntington, CT where she has lived most of her life. While in Colorado she worked for the United States Army Air Corps and met her husband. Together they moved to Huntington where she worked in the Emergency Room of Bridgeport Hospital. She also worked at the Monroe, CT Senior Citizen Center as an Art Instructor. She was a member of the Moose Club and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Club. Her husband Edward J. Gunger died in 2003. She leaves five sons Joseph, Michael, Jeffrey, Matthew, Jonathan Gunger; three daughters Deborah and Terri Gunger and Melanie Mitchell; thirty-four grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters Marilyn Scott and Maryann Gunger. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the First Baptist Church at 1:00pm. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements and memorial donations may be made to the National World War II Museum, 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.
