West Springfield, MA   Theresa J. (Gagnon) Powers, 86, died Tuesday at home surrounded by her loving family.  Theresa was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield all her life.  In her early career, she was an original Welcome Wagon Ambassador for the town of West Springfield, MA.  She went on to be a teacher's aide for the West Springfield Public School system and retired in 1996.  In her retirement she enjoyed frequent trips to Cape Cod, South Yarmouth in particular, where she spent time with her family, eating wonderful food, enjoying the beach and beautiful sunsets with her husband.  She found time to discover the love of scrapbooking.  She enjoyed spending many hours documenting moments of her life, her family and the things she loved while making some wonderful friends along the way.  She leaves her husband of 64 years, William J. Powers; two sons, Jim Powers and his wife Lisa of West Springfield, MA, and John Powers also of West Springfield, MA.  She also leaves two grandchildren, Caitlin and Connor Powers.   She was predeceased by her brother Edmund Gagnon of West Springfield, MA.   In accordance with her wishes, a committal service will be held in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Monday, February 5 ^th at 1:00pm.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  The family would like to thank the outstanding staff of Baystate Health Foundation for her hospice care.  In lieu of flowers please send memorial contribution in her name to the Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
