Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Thomas F. Carleton Jr., 90 formerly of Great Plains Road, died Wednesday surrounded by his family at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. Tom was born in Medford, MA and lived most of his life in West Springfield. He was a retired Production Manager for Farmer Brown Incorporated. A graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture Tom served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a longtime communicant of the Church of Good Shepherd and belonged to the Melha Temple Shrine Highlanders, the Masonic Lodge in West Springfield, the CVR Antique Car Club and the Model T Club. Tom was an avid fisherman, woodcarver and loved to travel the world. His first wife Josephine (Lech) Carleton died in 1993, his second wife Dorothy (McCormick) Carleton died in 2009 and his son Thomas F. Carleton III died in 2005. He leaves his daughter Nancy Stevenson and her husband Michael of Westfield; a stepson Peter Sullivan and his wife Lori of Cedar Ridge, CO; two step daughters Patricia Jorczak and her husband Stanley of Longmeadow, Dorie Wojcik and her husband Ted of Kensington, CT; two grandsons Ian Mulanouskus, Sean Stevenson; five step grandchildren Dan, Mike, Ken, Ryan, TJ and three step great granddaughters Hannah, Molly and Maggie. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
