Obituary

Thomas E. Cascio, Jr., of Feeding Hills, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted and beloved family on March 1, 2023. Tom was born on August 23, 1942 to Thomas and Florence (Fiore) Cascio and was a lifelong resident of Agawam as well as a 1962 graduate of Agawam High School. He spent his entire life working for his family's landscape and irrigation company, making him a local expert in the field and a trusted colleague and mentor to many. He was a member of the Lion's Club since 1976, serving a term as president in 1990 and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow. He was also a member of the Unico Club, the Hampden County Deputy Sherriff Association and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Tom loved to travel around the world and seek out new adventures. Some of his favorite trips included visits to Italy, Egypt, Australia, Russia, Austria, and Germany, but he remembered most fondly bringing his children and grandchildren to Disney World. Family was everything to Tom and was happiest when surrounded by his many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whether it was dinner at his favorite restaurants, attending sporting events, or taking them for tractor rides. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, eating good food, and living life to the fullest. Every Tuesday night, Tom could be found at any given area restaurant with his friends for their weekly dinners. He looked forward to Sunday spaghetti suppers with family, cheering on Joey Logano in Nascar races, and found peace when riding on his Bobcat. His door was always open to anyone for advice about lawn and landscape care, a cup of coffee, and good conversation. Tom was predeceased by his parents in 1981 and 1999 and his sister, Marianne (Cascio) Shenefield in 2019. He leaves the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Anne; his five cherished children and stepchildren, Dede Yasgar (Jack); Kimberly Pilon (Robert); Scott Moore (Maryadele); Thomas Cascio III (Julie); and Jennifer Metz (Jason). He also leaves his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life: Alyssa Ridley; Carly Pilon; Michelle Matter; Samantha Hale; Alexander Yasgar; Sarah Yasgar; Veronica Moore; Kyle Pilon; Madeline Cascio; Thomas Cascio; Calli Pilon; James Cascio; Hailey Metz; Logan Cascio; Annalise Metz; Jace Metz; Noah Ridley; and Mia Ridley. Tom will be missed by countless family members and friends from around the globe. The funeral will be Monday at 11am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org , the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org, or the Agawam Lions Club. For online condolences, please visit www.curranjones.com
