Thomas W. Cummings
1959 – 2016

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Thomas W. "Mouse" Cummings, 57, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, he was the son of Eleanor (Stenberg) Cummings and the late Philip Cummings. He was a lifelong resident of West Springfield and a 1977 graduate of West Springfield High School. Tom was a correctional officer for twenty-four years for the Connecticut Department of Correction, retiring in 2009 holding the rank of Captain. He worked at the Somers Prison, Carl Robinson facility in Enfield, and was the high-bond housing unit manager at MacDougall-Walker in Suffield, which is the largest maximum security prison in New England. During and after his time at the prison, he was a security sergeant for fourteen years at the Eastern States Exposition. Prior to this, he was a navy veteran serving on the USS Narwhal, a nuclear attack submarine. Tom enjoyed reading, vacations to Rockport, MA, Led Zeppelin, movies, ice cream, and was a former air guitar champion. Besides his mother, he leaves his loving wife of thirty-five years, Kim R. (Siedel) Cummings; a son, Ryan Cummings; daughters, Kaila Cummings, Lindsey Regan and her husband Derrick; four brothers, Gerald, Philip, Paul and Kevin Cummings; two sisters, Karen Boduch and Christine Doe; a granddaughter, Harper "on the way"; and his Black Lab – Junoh. The funeral will be Thursday at 9am at the WEST SPRINGFIELD CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME,109 Main Street with a Mass at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, both in Agawam.
