Valentin Gonzalez, 80, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.  Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, he moved to Springfield in 1974.  He worked as a laborer and enjoyed baseball, softball, boxing and playing dominos.  He leaves his wife of fifty-six years, Josefina (Lopez) Gonzalez, two sons, Angel Gonzalez of Springfield, Elis Gonzalez of New Britain, a daughter, Jomarie Rivera Gonzalez of Springfield, his grandchildren, Jomarie, Angel Jr., Emmanuel, Johnny, Jazlyn, Angel, Teaanou, Teaohn, Destiny, Jalene, and Elis Jr. sixteen great-grandchildren, his siblings Jose Antonio Gonzalez, Gladys, Carmen, Anna and Lourdes and many nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be Thursday at 10am at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
