AGAWAM - Velma C. Bell, 99, of Cardinal Drive, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 28 ^th . Velma was born at Stratford, Ontario, Canada to the late John and Olive Coleman. Following graduation in 1948 from London College of Bible and Missions, now Tyndale University College and Seminary, Toronto, Ontario, Velma came to the United States to serve with Child Evangelism Fellowship. In 1953, she married her late husband, Wayne (2014), in Columbus, Ohio, and they shared 61 years together in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Windsor Locks, and Agawam. For almost 50 years, Velma was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor Locks, CT. She enjoyed children and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She had a deep passion for missions and helping younger ladies in the church. Predeceased by her siblings: Viola, Cassie, Orville, Marie and Lloyd; a niece, Gwenneth; and a nephew, Michael, Velma will be lovingly remembered by her remaining nieces and nephews in Canada: Louise (Bruno), Lyal (Jeanette), Catherine, Terry (Heather), Todd, Linda (Steve), and Carol (Terry). Velma leaves a cherished sister-in-law, Maureen, as well as special caregivers Katherine and Cheryl and dear friends, Ed, Amy, and Edward. A burial service will be held on Tuesday, December 7 ^th , at 10 AM, at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. A memorial service to celebrate Velma's life will be held on Tuesday, December 14 ^th , at 10 AM, at Calvary Baptist Church, 470 Elm Street, Windsor Locks, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. The AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME is handling all arrangements.
