Obituary

Vera A. (McDonnell) Conway, 79, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center.  Born in Springfield, she grew up in Ireland, and upon moving back, lived in Agawam and was a 1960 graduate of Agawam High School.  Vera was a 1963 graduate and valedictorian of her class at the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, where she became a registered nursed, and worked at and did private duty work at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.  She also did pastoral work at Heritage Hall and for Sacred Heart Church, where she was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister and also worked for Curran Jones Funeral Home.  She was a member of the Agawam St. Patrick's Committee and a past Parade Marshall in 2017.  Vera was also known for her musical talents, and played the piano and accordion.  She will always be known for her caring presence and her willingness to help others.  Her husband, Vincent T. Conway, Jr., died in 2002 and her son Adam M. Conway died in 2007.  She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Ellen Arslanian and Kathleen Gail Brunelle.  She leaves a daughter, Faith A. Conway, two grandchildren, Sean Patrick Conway and his partner, Amanda Radle, Scott Alexander Conway all of Feeding Hills, a brother-in-law, Leon William Brunelle of Agawam and many nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be Friday at 10:30am from the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 11:30. The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Calling hours are Thursday 4-7pm. Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
