Obituary

Vincent M. Dimino, 87, passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 8, 2023. Born in West Springfield on February 9, 1936, he was the son of Salvatore and Rose Dimino. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Joseph Dimino of Agawam, and two sisters, Mary Wojnarowicz, Theresa Siedel. He leaves behind his loving, dedicated, and caring wife of 56 years, Donna (Pirnie) Dimino. Donna was his extraordinary caregiver for the past 10 years and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He leaves behind three daughters, Laurie and Tina Dimino, and Becky Dimino, who were by his side as he transitioned; as well as Steve Longey who was like a son to him for 30+ years. He leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren; Alicia Markewicz, Nicole Longey, Giuliana Farley-Dimino, Lukis, Donevin, and Maeleigh; two sisters, Angie Berthiaume, and RoseMarie Fitzgerald, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention his incredible aide (and BFF) of three years, Kim Lincoln; with Kim there, he always had a smile on his face. Finally, Mr. George Bailey-the best comfort dog Vincent could've had. Vincent proudly served in the United States Army. He served on the West Springfield Auxiliary Police in the 1960s and early 70s. He retired from Sweet Life Foods after 30 years of service and was a business owner for over 15 years. Vincent may be best known for running Al's Corner in West Springfield with his brother Joe. It was there where he met his future wife. He also ran a convenience store and a restaurant in Chicopee, B & V Variety, and The Golden Penny. His last business venture was running Vinny's Lunch Box on Park St. in West Springfield. Vincent loved his cigars, scratch tickets, westerns, and music from the 1940s-50s. He loved having Sunday dinner with his family while making everyone laugh with his one-liners, most notably, "Who cares?!"  Calling hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, August 15, 2023 beginning at 9am and ending with a funeral home service at 10 AM followed by a burial with full military honors at the Mass Vet's Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VA Homebound Care program and/or Baystate Hospice. A special thank you to the VA Homebound Care program and Baystate Hospice for their remarkable, unwavering support and care.
