Virginia Cook
1929 – 2012

AGAWAM – Virginia "Ginny" (Channell) Cook, 82, of Maple Street died Tuesday at home surrounded by her loving family. Ginny was born in Springfield and has lived in Agawam all her life. She always had a love for books and worked as a Librarian for the West Springfield Public Library. An avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed traveling, bowling and summers at the Cape with her family. Her husband Francis "Hank" Cook died in 1990. She leaves two sons Michal J. Cook and his former wife Unity Malloy of Northampton; James T. Cook and his wife Kris of Westfield; a daughter Susanne Larivee and her husband Dave of Agawam; four sisters Sandra Therrien (Virginia's best friend) and her husband Bob, Marie Cook, Margaret Budlong and Marilyn Channell. She will forever be known as "Mamie", "Grandma" or "Grandma Ginny" to her eight grandchildren Tanya Pugliano, Kaila Chianciola and her husband Cory, Michael Jr., Leah, David, Adam, Karli and Zachary Cook and her four great grandchildren Nick and Arri Pugliano, Joey Chianciola and Michael T. Cook. Ginny also had numerous special friends at the Danahy School House. The family would like to thank the Baystate Hospice Team, especially Amy, Lisa and Lorri. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Ginny's life on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by a Remembrance Service in the funeral home at 11:00am on Friday. A private burial will take place in the Agawam Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 280 Chestnut St., Spfld, MA 01104 or to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284-5945.
