Virginia L. (Stafford) Lake, 95, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 2, 2015. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late William and Frieda (Nau) Stafford, she was a 1938 graduate of Sharon (PA) High School and moved to Agawam in 1956. Virginia had been the owner of a dairy mart in East Longmeadow and on River Road in Agawam. She was a member of the Agawam Golden Age Club Chapter 2 where she was the program coordinator. Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, active in the Republican Party, was in a Sunday night bowling league and a Bridge Club. She was also a very active member at St. David's Episcopal Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Wingate at East Longmeadow for the compassionate care that was shown to Virginia while she was a resident there. Her husband, Russell H. Lake died in 1991 and her son, Richard A. Lake died in 1978. She leaves a daughter, Marilyn L. Lake of Agawam, a brother, retired Judge William H. Stafford, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Lake, Jeremy Fay, Jennifer Foote, Carolyn Fryar, Lauren Sanford, nine great-grandchildren, and she was looking forward to the birth of her first great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be Thursday at 9am from the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street with a Service in St. David's Episcopal Church at 10. The burial will follow in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8pm.
