Virginia I. (Schmitt) Sayward, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  Born in Springfield, daughter of the late George and Marie (Provensal) Schmitt, she grew up in Hartford, and moved to West Springfield in 1966.  Virginia worked for Southworth Paper Company for many years and after she retired, she worked for the Riverside Park, now Six Flags.  She enjoyed camping, quilting, gardening and was an avid baker, making her children's wedding cakes.  Her husband, John N. Sayward, Sr., died in 1989.  She leaves four sons, John N. "Jack" Sayward, III of Becket, Steven A. Sayward of Monson, Dale E. Sayward of Middletown, CT, Brian R. Sayward of Ellington, CT, two daughters, Anita M. MacDonald of Westfield, Donna L. Camerlin of Texas, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Calling hours will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4-7pm at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by a Funeral Service at 7pm.
