Obituary

Wallace W. Whitehead, Jr., 90, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 21, 2025.  Born in Springfield, son of the late Wallace and Florence (LeCour) Whitehead, he was a lifelong resident of Feeding Hills.  Wally worked as a foreman for the former Breck Company for thirty-nine years before he retired in 1992.  He was a call fireman for the Town of Agawam for nineteen years and an army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Polish American Club in Feeding Hills and was an avid hockey fan. He was also a communicant of Sacred Heart.  He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Whitehead and his wife, Joan both in 2023, two sisters, Shirley Wagner in 2019, Beverly McCullough in 2024, a nephew, Robert Whitehead in 2022 and a sister-in-law, Barbara Meeks in 2019. He leaves his loving wife of sixty-one years, Carol A. (Longtin) Whitehead, a daughter, (daddy's little girl) Sharon A. and Paul Ritter of Agawam, two sons, Kevin W. and Lisa Whitehead of West Springfield, Kenneth W. and Barbara Whitehead of Hampden, Seven Grandchildren, Sarah (Steven) Signet, Ashley (RaShaine) Johnson, Nathan (Caitlyn) Whitehead, Brandon Whitehead, Allison Whitehead, Jayden Whitehead, Dakotta Whitehead, six great-grandchildren, Nora, William, Avery, Aiden, Ember, Bowen, and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank the fifth floor Mercy Medical Center and Vantage Rehab and Gianna with Guardian Angels for their compassionate care shown to Wally. Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. The funeral will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 9am from the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 10.
