Walter D. Gokey

1945 – 2017

West Springfield – Walter Dennis Gokey, 71, of Mercury Court died Monday in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield his entire life. He retired from the West Springfield Department of Public Works after 37 years and more recently worked for Taylor Rental and V & F Auto. He served a short stint with the United States Navy. He leaves his wife Linda (Corliss) Gokey; three children Timothy P. Gokey, Patricia C. Silinski and Lorie A. Gokey; six grandchildren Jacob & Kaylee Dulude, Kyle & Bryanna Gokey and Edward and Angela Silinski and two great grandchildren Landon and Cassadee. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.
