Walter J. Thornholt Sr.

1931 - 2020

Walter J. Thornholt Sr., died peacefully Sunday, October 25, 2020 in a local nursing home.  Walter was born August 24, 1931, in Norwalk, CT, son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Utzinger) Thornholt.  He grew up in Connecticut, lived in East Longmeadow and Springfield for many years before moving to Chicopee 21 years ago.  He owned his own company and later was a car salesman for many years for several local dealerships.  His wife Ann M. (Gundersen) Thornholt died in 1992, daughter Linda Wilson died in 2010.  He leaves his sons Walter J. Thornholt of Colorado, William Thornholt and his wife Susan; Steven Thornholt of Melbourne, FL; a sister Betty Farley of Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and his dear companion Connie of 20 years.  Walter proudly served his Country in the Navy during the Korean War conflict and was a long standing member of the VFW.  Due to complications of Covid-19 restrictions, a funeral will be held on a later date at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Home with burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.  For online condolences, please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to your local Veteran's agency.
