Walter "Larry" Wilson Jr.

1940 – 2017

HOLYOKE – Walter "Larry" Wilson Jr., 76, died Thursday in Heritage Hall East Nursing Home.  Larry was born in Springfield, grew up in East Longmeadow and lived in Easthampton before moving to Holyoke seven years ago.  He was a retired Appliance Technician for the former Central New England Appliance Repair Company in Greenfield.  He served in Berlin for the United States Army, driving trucks during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He was the National Aide Camp VFW from 2012-2013, the Past District Commander from 2008-2012, Past Commander of VFW Post 625 in Chicopee, member of the Amvets Post 12, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion Post 325 in Holyoke.  Larry was the president of the Patriotic Committee in Chicopee and for fourteen years served as head of Security at the Riverside Speedway.  He loved to spend time with his family camping, bowling and racing.  He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan and was a longtime season ticket holder for the Springfield Falcons.  He was the longtime coach of TJ's Sports Bar in Agawam in the over-18 women's softball league.  He leaves his wife of 35 years Linda Lepore-Wilson; three children Thomas Lepore, Vicki Michaud and her husband Ken and Lori Robinson and her husband Mark.  He also leaves a sister Karen McCormic and her husband Mike, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a grandson Justin Thomas Lepore and sister Barbara Wilson.  The committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Thursday, June 22 nd at 1:00pm.  A "CELEBRATION OF LIFE" will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6:00 - 11:00pm at the VFW Post 625, 374 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Walter "Larry" Wilson Jr./Go Fund Me Page .   For the full obituary please visit curranjones.com.
