WEST SPRINGFIELD – Wendell L. Carduff, 94, died Tuesday morning surrounded by his loving family. Wendell was born in Springfield, the son of the late John S. and Antoinette (MacDonald) Carduff. A lifelong resident of West Springfield, Wendell was a prominent lawyer in town for many years. He was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Worcester Academy, attended Harvard University before receiving his law degree from Western New England College. He started his career as the West Springfield Town Prosecutor and worked with the Hampden County District Attorney's Office. He also served on the Boards of the West Springfield Library, the Park & Recreation Department and as the Town Moderator. Wendell served with the United States Navy during World War II. An avid golfer, he belonged to the Springfield Country Club and Oak Ridge Golf Club, was a longtime member of the West Springfield Rotary Club, Hampden County Bar Association, was active at the Dante Club and with the Shriner's. His wife Martha (Savaria) Carduff died in 2003. He leaves his three daughters Nancy Delbuono and her husband Paul, Andrea Izzo and her partner Jim, Lisa Saimeri and her husband Steve; seven grandchildren Sharon Ryczek and her husband Ron, Sara Bresnahan and her partner Tim Harvey, Christopher Izzo and his wife Melissa, Matthew Izzo and his wife Alissa, Beth Kerr and her husband Kevin, Taylor Saimeri , Morgan Saimeri and her partner Joseph Bowker; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Wendell was predeceased by his brothers Richard "Red" and Donal Carduff and a grandson John Bresnahan. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday, January 25 th from 2:00 – 5:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
