Wilfred (Wolfie) Katz, 96, of Holyoke died peacefully Monday at
Baystate Medical Center. He was born in North Adams, the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Garber) Katz, but spent most of his life in Holyoke. After graduation from Holyoke High School, Wolfie enlisted in the US Army during WWII. He was a meat cutter for the family business, Arnold's Meats, until his retirement in 1989. Wolfie was the devoted husband to Lucy (Tarasewicz) Katz. He also leaves sister-in-law Lila Katz, nephew Lawrence (Marianne) Katz and niece Susan Katz all of South Hadley, nieces Donna Soodalter-Toman of Waban and Paula Soodalter of Newton Highlands, nephew Ronnie (Jane) Soodalter of Cold Spring, NY, step-daughters Wanda (Wolfdieter) Koch of Easthampton and Donna Boyan of North Carolina, and several great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Edward and Roland Katz, his sister Mildred (Arnold) Soodalter and nephew Jerry Katz. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The funeral will be held graveside Wednesday at 11:00 at Rodphey Sholom Cemetery, Chicopee, MA.
