William A. Briggs Jr.
1933 – 2012

FEEDING HILLS – William A. Briggs Jr., 78, of Parkview Drive died Monday in Noble Hospital. Bill was born in Springfield, and grew up in West Springfield, before moving to Feeding Hills in 1960. For 46 years he owned and operated Briggs Service Station until retiring in 1997. He was a Korean War veteran serving for the United States Air Force. Bill was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills and a member of the Dante Club, Shaker Farms, Tuesday Scoreboard Group and the Deadline Gang. He leaves his wife of 51 years Beverley A. (Philbrick) Briggs; four children, Linda A. Briggs of Westfield, Deborah J. Briggs of Feeding Hills, Michael W. Briggs and his spouse Thomas Goss of Washington DC and Thomas C. Briggs and his spouse Beth Briggs of Brooklyn, NY. He also leaves two grandchildren, Marlowe and Cace Briggs. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 11:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills at Noon followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
