Obituary

William "Bill" G. Clark, 83, of the Hungry Hill area of Springfield, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 28, 1939, Bill was a beloved son of the late William and Alice (Noble) Clark.   He grew up in Chicopee and was a 1957 graduate of Chicopee High School.  He then went onto Monson Academy for a post-grad year before graduating from Norwich University in 1962. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant, stationed in Korea. Upon completion of his military duties, Bill moved out to California where he served as a junior civil engineer for the California Highway Department.  He then returned to Massachusetts and embarked on a remarkable forty-year career as a senior engineer for Daniel O'Connell & Sons.  His co-workers would often say, "Rome wasn't built in a day because Bill Clark was not in charge."  He was a member of the Men of Faith, the YMCA, and the Faith United Methodist Church in Chicopee.  Bill loved reading, walking in Forest Park, attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, landscaping with his son on Cape Cod, and his many trips to Maine with his wife.  Above all, he cherished spending time with his wife, Peggy, of 51 years, their 7 children, and 15 grandchildren who will miss him dearly and forever remember him in their hearts.  He was predeceased by a son, William Clark and a sister, Muriel Wilk. He leaves his wife, Margaret A. "Peggy" (Dwyer) Clark, four sons, Andrew Clark and his wife, Debbie, of East Sandwich, Douglas Clark and his wife, Pilar, of Wilbraham, Gavin Clark of Springfield, Connell Clark and his wife, Christina, of West Springfield, two daughters, Molly Peters and her husband, Norm, of Bloomfield, CT, Nora Ellerbrook and her husband, Tommy, of East Longmeadow, his daughter-in-law Tara Clark of Agawam, and his grandchildren: Hope, Kathryn, Tim, Makena, Matteo, Michael, Nicolas, Luciana, Eva, Thomas, Michaela, Maya, Jack, Drew, and Luke.  He also leaves his cousin, Jim Clark and his wife, Kathy, of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.  Calling hours are Sunday from 3-6pm at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield. A Funeral Service will also be held at Curran Jones Funeral Home on Monday at 9:30am followed by an 11am veterans burial service at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. For online condolences, please visit www.curranjones.com .
