Obituary

William "Bill" Gates Colburn Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Born on June 4, 1958 in Springfield, MA, son of Madeline Jean (Boyer) Colburn and the late John G. Colburn. Bill spent the majority of his life in West Springfield, where he was known as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A Class of 1976 graduate of West Springfield High School, he worked as a Lithographer in East Longmeadow for 47 years contributing his skills to Milton Bradley, Hasbro and Cartamundi. For 43 cherished years, Bill shared his life with his loving wife, Robin (Barre). Together, they raised two children, Bill Jr., and Amanda. A passionate sports fan, Bill found immense joy in cheering for the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. An avid reader with a special fondness for Stephen King novels, Bill often visited local libraries and bookstores with his mother Jean sharing their mutual love of reading. Bill will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Bill leaves his behind his beloved mother Jean Colburn, devoted wife Robin Colburn, son: Bill Colburn Jr., and his fiancé Kyla, daughter Amanda (Colburn) Williams and her husband John, his greatest pride and joy; his four grandchildren- Brooklyn, Declan and Braeden Williams and Pietro Colburn, whose laughter and shared moments brought endless happiness to his life.  Bill also leaves his brother Jim Colburn and his wife Reshen, his father-in-law Robert Barre along with several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Cynthia (Colburn) Masse and his mother-in-law Jacqueline Barre. With respect to Bill's final wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Bill's name to the charity of your choice. The CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
