SPRINGFIELD - William T. Foley, 88, formerly of Parkside Street died Friday evening in a local nursing home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Springfield, son of the late Timothy and Katherine (Woods) Foley and most recently resided at Keystone Commons, Ludlow, MA. He began his career with the New England Telephone Company as an installer and retired as a First Line Supervisor. Upon retirement, he worked at Valley Communications and Six Flags New England sharing his telephone expertise, retiring in his late 70's. He served in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer aboard the USS Mullaney DD-528 from 1951-1954. He was a member of John Boyle O'Reilly Club, Telephone Pioneers, and K of C, West Springfield. Bill cherished the time he spent with this family and friends, playing cards, fishing, and vacationing in Maine. He also spent these past few years painting birdhouses and wooden crafts for all his family and friends! Bill was predeceased by his son Billy in 2013. He leaves his soul-mate of 63 years Evelyn (Shea) Foley, two daughters, Patricia (George) Daviau of South Hadley, Brenda (Bobby) Netkovick of Belchertown; daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Foley of Agawam; a son Joseph (Danielle) of Windsor, CT; 10 grandchildren Melissa (Dan) Johnson, Loradona (fiance Nick Ferrara), Shannon (Tim) Jendrysik, Billy Foley; Geoff, Garrett and Greg Daviau; Kelsey and Brandon Netkovick; and Joey Foley; three great grandsons Remy, Griffin and Paxton. Calling hours will be Tuesday at West Springfield Curran Jones Funeral Home 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral will begin on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Liturgy at Mary, Mother of Hope Church at 11:00 AM followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the caregivers Delilah, Nancy, Melissa, Stacy, R.J., Lori, Joe, Bob and Rory for their kind and compassionate years of care and support.
