William T. Gonet, 89, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 3, 2023 in Mercy Medical Center.  Born in Feeding Hills, son of the late John and Pauline (Wojnar) Gonet, he was a lifelong resident and a 1952 graduate of Agawam High School.  William worked for over thirty-five years for Hamilton Standard and was a foreman in the propeller shop, retiring in 1995.  While in his senior year of high school, he won the Peanut Bowl for Agawam High School.  He was then drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and played for the Thomasville Georgia Dodgers but was then drafted by the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.  He held a private pilot's license and enjoyed vacationing at Prince Edward Island in Canada. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.  He was predeceased by his wife, Gail A. (Rossmeisl) in 2007 and his brother, Fr. Charles F. Gonet in 2019.  He leaves four sons, William P. and his wife Helene Gonet of Westfield, John C. Gonet of Southwick, Thomas G. Gonet of Feeding Hills, Roger L. and his wife Agnes Gonet of Agawam, a brother and his wife, Lewis and Katherine Gonet of Feeding Hills, his longtime companion, Yvonne "Bonnie" Dill of Springfield, eleven grandchildren, William, Robert, Kelly, Kaitlyn, John Jr., Maryssa, Gabrielle, Michael, Christian, Alexandra, Elizabeth, two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Cora, and several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday April 12, 2023 at 9am from the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10.
