William Joseph Heelon, 93, of West Springfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.  William was born in Springfield, on July 29, 1932, son of the late William and Irene (Gaudette) Heelon. He was predeceased by his mother Irene, his father William, his wife June Heelon, and his sister Eileen LaChapelle.

William grew up in Springfield and spent most of his life in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Cathedral High School. William worked for U.S. Envelope Company, Third National Bank, and later worked in Purchasing at Mercy Hospital. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Second Lieutenant. William was a communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield.

William treasured family time, especially vacations at Cape Cod and Hampton Beach. He delighted in watching his grandchildren grow and in the simple pleasures of family gatherings. His steady presence, quiet dedication, and devotion to faith and family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

William was predeceased by his wife, June (Maxwell) Heelon who died on January 12, 2026 and a sister, Eileen LaChapelle. He was the loving father of Mark Heelon and his wife, Michele of Feeding Hills, and David Heelon and his wife, Kelly of West Springfield. He was a cherished grandfather to Madeline Heelon, Jonathan Heelon, and Ryan Heelon. He is also survived by his sister Gail Zelis of York, PA.

Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday, April 27, 2026 from 9-10:30am followed by Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 11 with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
