Obituary

West Springfield-William "Willy" Johnston was born on January, 24, 1958 the son of Bridget Maitland and the late Dick Johnston, Jr. He was brought home by Our Lord January 14, 2015. His greatest covenant beside our lord is his wife Mary Desmarais Johnston, whom he would have been married to for 35 years next month on February 14th. He is survived by his children Leana Blain, Sharon Poirer and her husband Mike, Jacob and his wife Emily and his 4 grandchildren Avery, David, Sarhea and Siobhan. He leaves behind his mother Bridget Maitland, and his 10 siblings Dick III and his wife Amber, Trish DelNegro and husband Joe, Sandy Roy and husband Steve, Rob and wife Chris, Andy, Mike and wife Chris, Ray and wife Kris, Cathy Wilson and husband A.J., Stella Wilson and husband Jon and Bridget Phillips and husband Kerry (Kerry). His sister-in-laws, Maggie Desmarais, Val Foisy and husband Steve, Patti Topper, Robin Ryalls, and brother-in-law Scott Ryalls; his friend Chet Martin, 38 nieces and nephews & 15 grand nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins in England and endless extended family and friends. He was Pre-deceased by his father, Dick Johnston Jr, best friend Fonz, and dog Sadie. A devoted communicant of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, he was an employee at the infamous Holiday Inn, The Ground Round, Chez Josef, and finally at Mercy Medical Center. A former coach of the West Side Wolverines, he loved listening to The Q 99.7, motorcycle riding, collecting HOG miles and going to Laconia rally every year. His bucket list was fulfilled with a trip to Sturgis rally in 2014.We want to thank Mercy Oncology and Mercy Hospice Services: Especially Dr. Glynn, the nurses and Cindy, Annie and Chaplin Rachel. The funeral will be Monday January 19th @ 11:00a.m. at Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish West Springfield, with a Celebration of Life to follow from 1:00-4:00pm at the First Congregational Church Lathrop St. West Springfield. Celebration attire requested by Willy is Jeans and T-shirts. There are no calling hours and the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
