Obituary

William "Bill" E. Racicot, 77, died peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at home surrounded by family.  Born in Springfield, son of the late Joseph and Theresa (DeMaio) Racicot, he was a lifelong resident of West Springfield and a 1964 graduate of West Springfield High School.  William worked as a roofer for Local 248.  He loved his country and a proud army veteran of the Vietnam War and was in the 17th Cavalry 82nd Airborne Division. Bill cherished time outdoors, especially fishing with the boys, enjoying beach days, tending to his garden, and spending time with family and friends at his condo in Florida. Known for his culinary skills, he delighted those around him with his cooking, leaving memories of meals and gatherings filled with laughter and love. He was also a valued member of the Verdi Club and a devoted communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph and four sisters, Joanne, Nancy, Theresa and Rosalie. He leaves his wife of forty-three years, Maxine F. (Niemiec) Racicot, a son and his wife, William E., Jr., and Julie Ann Racicot of Agawam, two brothers, Robert Racicot and his longtime companion, Nancy Hamlin of East Longmeadow, Kenneth Racicot of West Springfield, two grandchildren, Ella and Ryan Racicot, many special nieces and nephews and his favorite dog, Daisy.  Relatives and friends are invited to meet for a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
