Obituary

The angels finished the wings and halo for my mom, Wilma Louise (Keehle) Lehman, 87, on March 21, 2014. She went on her journey from Wingate in South Hadley with me stroking her forehead and singing a family lullaby. She will be met with a big bouquet of pink roses by my dad, Dr. Stephen Lehman who left us on April 28, 1966 at age 44. Also there to greet her will be her dad and mom, Charles and Alice (Butler) Keehle who welcomed her into this world on September 4, 1926 in New Bedford, MA. Kitty kisses will await her from her "furry kids" Bingo, Mittens, Shadow, Tuffy, Frosty and Ashley. Mom loved her family more than anything and devoted her life to us, always there when we needed her in any capacity. She loved "playing in the dirt", bouncing up and down in the pool shouting, "I love it, I love it", feeding her birds, her "sweeties" (especially ice cream), her kitties and especially my dad and his memory. She graduated from Campbell's Business School in New Bedford, MA and enjoyed being a temp agency Kelly Girl, because it gave her a wide variety of experiences. When she married my dad on December 28, 1947, she started on a new journey as a wife and mother working as a secretary at various jobs until a "doctor's draft" of my dad in the Air Force gave us 9 years of travels. Those left behind to mourn her passing but delight in having her in their lives are her daughter, Cheryl (Lehman) Anziano and husband, Gordon Anziano of Chicopee, grandson and wife, Stephen and Nita (Patel) Luce, granddaughter and husband, Kristen (Luce) and Charles Pope Jr., great granddaughters, Avani and Vera Luce, sister, Helen (Keehle) Butts, nephew, David Butts, neice, Susan (Butts) Mello and her "furry kids" Precious and Abby. Mom requested no wake or funeral so at the convenience of the family there will be an internment ceremony this summer. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105. A special thanks go to the staff on 2 West at Wingate. They let Mom live her last 2 3/4 years in dignity and showered us all with love and affection. From the moment Mom gave birth to me she and my dad gave me a wonderful life. I will miss you, Mom. Your spirit will continue on in myself, Stephen, Kristen, Avani and Vera.
