Obituary

AGAWAM – Wilma A. (Zettl) Thomas, 94, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 20, 2022.  Born in Neuhammer, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Lauber) Zettl, she lived on a small farm and after World War II her family was expelled and left as refugees settling in West Germany where she met and married Abraham Thomas and then came to the United States in 1952.  Wilma worked as a seamstress, was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union and an active member of the West Springfield Senior Center.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and playing cards, and was an avid traveler. She was predeceased by her husband, Abraham Thomas.  She leaves a son, Edward A. Thomas and his wife Joanne of Westmoreland, NH, a grandson Aaron Thomas of Cropseyville NY, and a grandson Benjamin Thomas and his wife Caitlin Cribbs of College Park, MD. She leaves one brother, Rudolph Zettl and was predeceased by siblings Ernest Zettl, Alfred Zettl, Herta Bratner and  Waltraud Strokosch all of Germering, Germany. She also leaves several nieces and nephews also in Germany.  A chapel service will be Friday at 3pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.  The AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
