Zeigfred P. "Zeke" Galica, 94, died peacefully Thursday morning surrounded by his loving family. Zeke was born in Chicopee, the son of the late Antoni and Karolina (Kapinos) Galica of Chicopee. He grew up in Chicopee, graduating from Chicopee Trade School in 1945 and has lived in West Springfield since 1968. His career included a number of local companies, the majority with O'Connell & Sons Construction Company, retiring in 1994. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Wycoff and Tekoa Country Clubs. Zeke loved working in his gardens and was an exercise enthusiast. Zeke was a proud and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather that instilled hard work ethics to his family. Zeke was the biggest supporter/champion of his family. He loved all family gatherings and especially those in Otis MA. He was kind hearted, a good friend to many and had an inspiring cheerful personality. He was predeceased by his wife Louise M. (Pomeroy) Galica in 2009 and his son Jeffrey Galica in 2017. He leaves his sons David and his wife Jacqueline and James and his wife Lorraine; a daughter-in-law Marie Galica; six grandchildren Tom, Ben, Jonathan, Julia, Zachary and Timothy and a great grandson Oren. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Walter, Mieczyslaw, Eugene and Anthony and sisters, Mary Osenkowski, Adele Iwasinski, Irene Stadnicki and Jane Swiderski. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, April 18th at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
