Zenaida
Gomez-Acevedo
November 10, 1958 – March 14, 2025
Zenaida Gomez-Acevedo, 66 of West Springfield, MA, passed away on March 14, 2025 after a battle with Alzheimer's. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. Born on November 10, 1958, in Springfield, MA, Zenaida was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Zenaida was married to Manuel Acevedo for 44 years, a partnership built on love and respect. Together, they raised five children: Melissa (Michael) Przygoda of Westford, MA, Manuel Acevedo II (Stephen Johnson) of Ellington, CT, Marcus Acevedo of Tavares, Florida, and Melanie and Melinda Acevedo of Seattle, WA. She was an adoring grandmother to three grandchildren: Eleanor, Finnean, and Luca, who brought her great joy. Zenaida also leaves behind her sister, Carmen Gomez of West Springfield, as well as many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her presence. Zenaida will always be remembered for her love of the color black, trips to Disney with her family and her "Good night, love mom" texts. We couldn't have asked for a better wife and mother and we will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Zenaida's family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. The funeral will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 9am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by a Mass at St. Thomas Church at 10. The burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Zenaida's name.
